As a music lover and as a person who enjoys a few rock concert DVDs such as, Jimi Hendrix-Blue Wild Angel (Live at the Isle of Wight), Fleetwood Mac-The Dance, Cream-Royal Albert Hall-London May 2-6, Led Zeppelin and Monterey Pop, I have another concert film to add to my list. U2 3D is an intense and stimulating musical innovation shot in the first ever 3D, multi-camera, real-time production. This exhilarating footage is from the U2 Vertigo Tour in South America's Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The only possible way to describe this film, is to explain that it is a sound show of Bono, Adam Clayton, Larry Mullen Jr. and The Edge. These guys are considered global stars in the music industry. They are filmed in layered 2-D and 3-D by 3ality Digital technology which is the largest number of 3-D cameras ever used for a single project. The brilliant cinematographers Peter Anderson (3-D) and Tom Krueger (2-D) took me on a visual journey from live action with a steadicam, robotic cameras and footage from the air in layers of images that was merged with Surround sound.

The group featured nine songs consisting of Vertigo, With or Without You, The Fly, Miss Sarajevo, Beautiful Day, Sometimes You Can't Make it on Your Own, Love and Peace or Else, Bullet the Blue Sky and Sunday Bloody Sunday. The point of the concert was to promote world peace and by the size of the audiences they made their point. When the group sang quick rhythm songs the crowd was wild and when they went to smooth ballads the audience seemed to be hypnotized. As a viewer of the film I was amazed how the filmmakers cleverly position the cinema audience behind the real live audience of the concert. It made me feel as if I was really standing next to other spectators in the crowd while watching from my theater seat. What an experience.

You need not be a U2 fan to enjoy this unforgettable visual experience. You must see and hear U2 3D in digital or IMAX 3D.
