This captivating adventure of science and discovery is a unique look at the entire age of dinosaurs. Featuring spectacular animation, a live-action story and closed caption archival footage in black and white.
The live-action story joins renowned paleontologists from the American Museum of Natural History and their graduate students in the field as they uncover new fossils-including the remarkable discovery of what may be the oldest dinosaur ever found in North America.
The archival footage of the 1920s documents rare finds of that era interwoven with never before seen realistic and scientifically accurate computer generated imagery (CGI).
The audience will meet and learn about Tarbosaurus (relative of T.Rex), Velociraptors, Protoceratops, Seismosaurus and many more. While the IMAX cameras follow the team and graduate students on their dinosaur hunting, they zoom in on numerous fossils laying deep in the earth. Making the adventure of reptile and dinosaur hunting spellbinding is how the film shows the rich history of a life stretching back 220 million years in front of your eyes.
These great moments are brought to life through the state-of-the-art CGI using a super flexible and super lightweight 3D rig, utilizing two ARRIFLEX 235 cameras, Ultra Prime lenses and the ARRI Wireless Remote System for the IMAX movie. Using small and lightweight 35mm film cameras to capture images for IMAX 3D projection provided unprecendented flexible and unique shooting angles. These rigs were loaded on a Toyota Land Cruiser's bumper to pan the camera.
Whether a student, a film lover or a scholar, you'll be amazed as I was by this incredible film project. This is a film to be seen by all members of the family.
