Director Statement
APPASSIONATA tells of the short instants in which soldiers try to escape the demons of war... Of those rare moments in which longings and emotions defy the maelstrom of daily cruelty and humanity wins over the insanity of war. But in the End, these short moments do not last and the young soldiers find themselves in the midst of war again. And no matter on which side they are, in the end there is no real winner. Everyone loses in war. The flesh heals, but the soul is injured forever...

This Subject is not related to WW2 alone. It is a problem that all soldiers in all wars face. WW1, WW2, Vietnam, Bosnia, Irak: Not only civilian people suffer from war, but also most of the soldiers. In that respect, Appassionata is a statement for peace and against war!
