Synopsis
18 motorcycles, 8 countries, 8000 miles
The GlobeRiders Silk Road Adventure follows a group of motorcyclists who ride from Istanbul, Turkey to Xian, China along the ancient Silk Road. The journey was 53 days and took them 8000 miles through 8 different countries. Along the way they struggled against dangerous riding conditions, mechanical breakdowns, accidents and political troubles and experienced a part of the world seldom seen by Western travelers.

Director Biography

Sterling Noren has traveled to more than 40 countries around the world - shooting, editing and producing independent documentaries and other non-fiction programming. He has been called “the Swiss Army knife of video production” because of his skills in digital video production.
In the 1990’s he worked for Microsoft’s pioneering adventure and travel web magazine called “Mungo Park” where he produced live video dispatches about expeditions around the world. In 2000 he left the U.S. to live and work aboard cruise ships as a television producer. After two years at sea, he returned to Seattle and began working with GlobeRiders, producing documentaries about world travel by motorcycle.
In 2002 he was hired by Bennett-Watt HD Productions in Seattle WA to edit and co-produce their “Discoveries…” series of programs. He concluded this four-year assignment by editing and co-producing the award-winning “Discoveries…America” series of high-definition documentaries about every state in the U.S.
When he is not traveling he lives in Seattle, WA where he operates Wide World HD Productions.
