Waiting
First of, let me say I am a huge Ryan Reynolds fan. Ryan who? Ryan
Reynolds. Van Wilder, engaged to Alanis, hot, buff blond guy with a
wise-ass sense of humor. So keep that in mind as I ramble on.
Waiting is a movie about the waiting staff of a chain restaurants, like TGI
Friday's. It shows how the staff handles disgruntled customers, deals with
their "I'm just like you guys" boss and pass the hours at what would
otherwise be a mundane and boring job.
This movie is hilarious! However, most of it's hilarity comes in the form
of bathroom humor, body jokes, sight gags and basically any other type of
humor a typical 12 or 14 year old boy would find amusing. Fortunately,
though it doesn't happen often, I can have the humor capacity of a 14 year
old boy and thus found this movie to be gut-busting, laugh-out-loud funny. The only down side is it has made me somewhat cautious in restaurants. I
don't know how true it may be, but I am going to be an extra nice customer
from now on, just in case.
So, if you are looking for a laugh, check out Waiting. This movie is funny
on your own, but I imagine in a group or party setting, this movie would be
a huge hit. So give it a whirl, but don't watch it while you're eating...trust me on this one.
I would give Waiting an overall grade of B.
Waiting gets a grade breakdown as follows:
Story: A. Very clever and cute.
Acting: B. Nothing amazing but the humor is fantastic. Anna Ferris rocks!
Visuals: B. Again, don't eat while watching.
Originality/Innovation: A. The way they get revenge on customers is totally unique and inventive.
Enjoyability grade: A. I laughed till my sides ached.
Overall grade: B. Watch with a group of friends for more enjoyment.
