The Gates of Heaven Artist Statement

Lucy Lee has been making animated films since the age of 14. She studied computer programming way back in 1989, but then went to Newport Film School to study animation craft where she made 2 16mm films about big puppets, and plants. She then started freelance work making animated title sequences for TV before going to the National Film and TV School in 1994. It subsequently won the Golden Hugo in 1997, was short listed for the student Academy Awards Nominations, British Animation Awards, and won other awards around the globe too.

She is now a digital convert, and makes interactive programmes for CD-ROM and the web, as well as short films using all sorts of digital ways and means. WAITING for S4C won a special mention at A Corto in ‘03, THE GATES OF HEAVEN won the Jose Abel prize at Cinanima in ‘05.
