Here Is What You Need To Know:
Decades after Ripley had the hell scared out of her in the original Alien film, Ripley, as played by Sigourney Weaver, awakens once more out of deep sleep and into an even worse nightmare. Aliens, takes girl power to a new level and Ripley comes face to face with hundreds of the nasty creatures and even their awesomely frightening mummy. If you like action flicks full of nasty monsters, then this is for you.
What Was Cool:
-Aliens is one of those action films where nearly everything about it is awesome.
-I usually don't dive into budgets that much but HDFEST's own Alan was kind enough to toss out the fact that Aliens was done for about $20 million, which was pretty impressive even in 1986 dollars.
-If you like butch gals, you'll love Jenette Goldstein's Private Vasquez. Wow. The pull-ups alone are worth the price of admission.
-Great creature effects and lots of slime abound.
-A ton of awesome, awesome acting performances from Weaver's Ripley, to Henriksen's Bishop and Bill Paxton's frantic speed freak character, Hudson. Acting performances of this caliber in an action oriented science-fiction film are rare and should be savored.
-This is a long film, but you don't really notice as the time simply flies.
-If your into guns Aliens is the action film for you and if you are into “chicks” with guns, then you are in some sort of Nirvana.
What Was Stupid:
-Aliens is just great fun, sure there are some flaws here and there, but its one of those films that only bastards rip on.
The Film's Real Genius or Geniuses:
James Cameron is definitely the genius on this project.
One overlooked performance is by Jenette Goldstein, but hey the alien doesn't get the credit it deserves either.
