The Arrival

Here Is What You Need To Know:

A long time long-ago in a city far, far away where Charlie Sheen could pass as a real celebrity was the film “The Arrival.” This was before he had defiled Denise Richards, forever ruining her. But that is a different story.

The Arrival is about a radio astronomer named Zane, not the toughest, roughest name I have ever heard for a lead, but what choice is there but to go with it? Zane, is a sharp boy, he just looks like a party hungry frat boy with some out of control "habits", that discovers what must be an alien signal, because hey, the aliens wouldn't be smart enough to find a way to cloak their signals or anything like that, again another story. This alien signal eventually gets traced to, ready for this, Mexico, where he finds all sorts of aliens up to no good.

Ladies and gentlemen, these specific aliens are from another planet and plan on transforming good old Mother Earth's atmosphere via greenhouse gases to meet their sicko, perverted alien needs. In 1996 global warming was only beginning to get the right kind of attention from the sleeping masses so you have to give writer David Twohy a pat on the back for that contribution.

What Was Cool:

-The aliens in The Arrival are nicely done by 1996 standards.

-The screenplay is tense and fabulously paranoid. If you are into stories of “oh my God they are screwing our brains out! We're all going to die!” then you'll love The Arrival, if you can look pass Charlie Sheen.

-Trying to pass Charlie Sheen off as a scientist was pretty entertaining but not as absurd as the Stooge Trio from Sphere. That now, was high comedy.

What Was Stupid:

-Casting Charlie Sheen
-Hiring the person that casted Charlie Sheen
-The acting of Charlie Sheen

The Film's Real Genius or Geniuses:

-The person behind the scenes that said to themselves, “what the f*** we can't give this role to Charlie Sheen.”

Overlooked Performance/Accomplishment:

Charlie Sheen's agent

A Little Fact About Cherie:
Cherie has a thing for Denise Richards and is not too pleased with one Charlie Sheen.
