Deja Vu
Here Is What You Need To Know:
-The easy joke is to point out that you have probably seen much of what Déjà Vu has to offer before. But I won’t do that, oh no wait, I just did.
Déjà Vu isn’t a bad film, it just doesn’t do much new. Okay that aside, its an okay film. It won’t blow your socks off but its okay. Denzel Washington plays an governement agent named Doug who, as a result of an investigation into a terrorist attack, finds himself recruited into a top secret agency. The agency in question deals with time travel. Val Kilmer, who has aged with extreme speed, and I do mean extreme, plays the Fed that recruits Washington. Seriously, Kilmer looks as though he is from twenty years in the future. The film has some cute twist here and there but borrows a lot from other time travel movies and television shows.
One particular victim of this borrowing is the now forgotten Seven Days, which ironically was itself a victim of terrorism, as the show was taken off the air after 911. The reason being that so many of its plots were terrorist related…or so I understand. But ignore that, here is what you need to know. Déjà Vu, is okay, its well-directed, well-shot and will keep you from going to the fridge, but it won’t stick in your memory.
What Was Cool:
-No doubt there are some great visuals in the film.
-The direction by Tony Scott is very good.
-Actress Paula Patton is a new face and she does a great job.
What Was Stupid:
-Nothing was stupid exactly, its just that the script wasn’t too exciting. As this is a Jerry Bruckheimer film you get the feeling that Déjà Vu was sort of targeting an older crowd. A larger, grander attack would have helped bring more power to the film. This would have helped pull the audience in a bit more.
The Film's Real Genius or Geniuses:
-The person that managed to get Paula Patton into the film is a genius. She is a treat to look at.
Overlooked Performance/Accomplishment:
-Paula Patton

A Little Fact About Cherie:
This film also stars Adam Goldberg. Why on earth do these Hollywood guys give him jobs? So there is your fact about Cherie: she could do without Adam Goldberg
