Star Trek: Nemesis
Here Is What You Need To Know:
Star Trek fans will consume anything you put in a wrapper marked “Star Trek.” This latest and greatest Star Trek film deals with a new grand plot by the Romulans who have had a Reman from Remus, yes this is the plot, take over the Empire. This new ruler is a bald prissy boy that turns out to be a clone of Picard. Cloning is hot now, so you see its topical. Powerful stuff. Apparently the people behind Star Trek think the fans must be the real nemesis.
What Was Cool:
-There are some excellent space ship battles which look pretty cool.
-Seeing Picard interact with “mini-Picard” is pretty funny and almost signal handedly worth a rental.
What Was Stupid:
-There is a really stupid plot line revolving around Data that should have never made it through the rough draft stage.
-With all the potential stories in the universe, literally people, this is what these guys come up with?
-Apparently director Stuart Baird knew nothing of Star Trek. That is awfully stupid and you have to wonder why any producer in her or his right mind would do such a strange thing as hire a director who knew nothing of such a once valuable franchise. Note, a once valuable franchise.
-These people look old, it was stupid not to give them some plastic surgery. Just kidding or am I?
The Film's Real Genius or Geniuses:
-The cinematography by Jeff Kimball was outstanding as was the costume design by Bob Ringwood, who also did the costume design for Troy, every gay man's favorite mainstream movie.
Overlooked Performance/Accomplishment:
The real accomplishment here is making Star Trek even lamer than before.
