X-Files

Here Is What You Need To Know:

What has two legs, graduated from Yale and thinks they are quite the smarty pants? Why its David Duchovny of course. Did he single handedly kill the X-Files? well, that is up for debate.

The first and, to date, only X-File movie takes us deeper into the world the black oil, the Smoking Man and even to Antarctica. We do finally learn more about the black oil and the multi-level and complex conspiracy. If you are a fan of the show you'll want to see the film.

What Was Cool:
-Learning more about the black oil

-The opening sequence that is in prehistoric time, that was rather cool.

-X-Files the movie has a fabulous and deep cast. The series regulars including Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Mitch Pileggi, the underrated William B. Davis are all joined by some new but seasoned actors, ranging from Martin Landau and Blythe Danner to Armin Mueller-Stahl and Terry O'Quinn. This great cast adds a rich feeling that the film might have lacked otherwise.

-The entire sequence in Antarctica is lots of fun, most especially if you were a fan of the show, before it starting sucking.

What Was Stupid:
-The film works and what was stupid was not setting up a sequel and then going for it.

-Trying to keep the television show on the air after it was obviously a done deal, that was stupid.

The Film's Real Genius or Geniuses:
-Chris Carter

Overlooked Performance/Accomplishment:
-Both William B. Davis and Armin Mueller-Stahl are just great actors that add so much to any film in which they appear.
