Biography of Aysegul Guryyuksel

Born in 1980. she graduated from MSU Istanbul State Conservatory of Performing Arts in 2001. Aysegul is a choreographer, performer, actor, artistic director and founder of Subvoid, together with Ece Gozmen in 2006.

She has created solos, improvisations, collaborations for stage and has participated in many festivals. She has worked with many choreographers, directors from Europe and across the ocean. Aysegul Guryusel has also worked with numerous companies in Istanbul as a choreographer, trainer, actor, as well as a dancer including Zeynep Tanbay Dance Project and Istanbul State Opera for 17 years.

Guryusel has created an evening length work called Dependent Independence. Later on with her strong interest in editing, she decided to transform her stage-art work into an experimental film-art production and with this film, she has become an award winning director in New York.

Subvoid has been presented by film/contemporary dance festivals in Germany, London, Wien, Italy, Portugal, Istanbul, NYC, Ankara, Antalya, Sydney and Cyprus since April 2006.
