This film was made in collaboration with Paul Hayes, who is also the main actor in underlogue. It was filmed on location in Bucharest, Romania. It was a very simple production, just the two of us with a mini dv camera and a stark wasteland in October. We liked very much the idea of playing with a very wide format, almost too wide to give the impression of the mental claustrophobia that the schizophrenic character was experiencing. We also worked a long time on the sound design to try and recreate the sound that this character was hearing. With these two elements and a lot of POV work, it was very important for me to put the audience inside the character’s head. 

Biographies

Anton Groves – graduated from Westminster university, London in 2002. Shortly after he left to Romania, and has been working on commercials and short films ever since. In 2006 he won the Best International Filminute award for his one minute production ‘Line’. This represented the first film as We Are Om (in collaboration with Damian Groves).

Damian Groves graduated from the Bartlett School of Architecture (UCL) in 2006 together with his colleague Richard Hardy. With a similar goal in mind they both teamed up and now make a part in the collaboration trio We Are Om, designing and art directing.
