Élu – Biography:

Intro:

Élu is a unique blend of Progressive Electronic, New Age and Pop created by the use of multi-tone samplers and live instruments.  Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Élu is the creation of Jeffrey Mettling, 12 time award winning recording artist with over 24 nominations for "best musical production" as recognized by the New Mexico Music Industry Association "NMMIA" and “Just Plain Folks” Music Awards, and Billboard Magazine.  Jeff is the creative energy and driving force behind the music including writing, arrangements, performance and production.  Jeff is a member of the Recording Academy and a member of BMI.

Accomplishments:

Eroica Records in CA has been representing Élu for the past 5 years.  In 2007 Jeff has decided to remain independent and continues to make the top 20 New Age/Ambient/Electronic play lists and is being featured on radio programming worldwide.   Élu’s releases continue to reach the top 40 on the internet’s top music download sites such as Audiostreet.net, MP3.com, Soundclick.com, Emusic.com, and has been in the top 20 for the past year as well as being a featured artist at CNET’s Download.com.  Élu’s music is available through all major on-line music venders such as Borders, Barnes and Nobel and Yahoo and others throughout the world. 

Additional members:

DeeAnn Gonzales is Jeff’s latest partner, co-writing two songs on the “Beautiful Things” album.  Dee was born and raised in Las Vegas, New Mexico and started singing as lead vocalist in a local Hip-Hop group in 2001 and soon after became the lead vocalist for a local Alternative-Rock band. During the next few years she would perform throughout New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Colorado, California and traveled as far as Johannesburg, South Africa.  She has appeared in many movies.  In The Valley of Elah – Starring Charlize Theron and Tommy Lee Jones, Once Upon A Time In The Hood – Starring Stephen Seagal, Love Lies Bleeding - Starring Christian Slater, and Wildfire - Season 4.  In addition to the acting Dee has her own album currently in production.

Virginia Olivas (Ginny) has played with a few bands while living in Los Angeles, CA and is fairly new to the Albuquerque music scene.  Her vocal work appears on the “Beautiful Things” album.

Rena Maestas is a local solo artist and collaborator in the Hip Hop and RnB genre.  Her vocal work also appears on the “Beautiful Things” album.

Kate Benton was co-writer for Élu’s Songs of Devotion Album.  She is an actress and stage performer.  Kate’s vocal work can also be heard on Élu’s “Beautiful Things” album.

Rebecca Moore sings for the UNM choir as well as two songs on Élu’s  “Beautiful Things” album.
