August Rush

(continued)

The screenplay of August Rush was written by the topically frenetic and possible schizo minds of Nick Castle and James V. Hart. Castle and Hart brought us the following films- Halloween (Castle), Major Payne (Castle), Delivering Milo (Castle) Sahara (Hart), Tomb Raider (Hart) Dracula (Hart) The Muppets Treasure Island (Hart) and The Last Mimzy (Hart)

Can we find a consistent throughline here at all guys? Well off the top of my head, I can think of one category all of the above fit into... films Sara doesn't like. Well, I take it back, I like The Muppets.

Robin Williams is in this film playing the most bizarre role perhaps I have seen in a long time. I won't give it away, but lets just say I think this actor has finally gone off the deep end. Over-acting has reached a climax for Williams. (He plays a role straight out of Oliver Twist and it is campier role than Mork from Ork.) But part of this is not William's fault, the character he is given to play is just completely unbelievable. I think only one of the finest actors in the world could have pulled this role off effectively. Maybe it was meant for a character from The Muppets to perform. A muppet probably would have seemed more realistic than William's portrayal.

The one good thing I can say about the film was the music was good. Well in a film about the amazing world of music and how it causes miracles to happen, you damn well better have good music. Also Jonathan Rhys Meyers is pretty hot.
