Stay
I really loved this movie and after seeing Stay, I will predict the movie's director Marc Foster is one of those directors to watch. If you are into films that are unpredictable and different, I recommend that you just ignore the fact that Stay was a box office failure and trust me enough to rent this film.
Stay stars increasingly prolific actors Ewan McGregor and Ryan Gosling. McGregor plays Sam Foster, a psychiatrist who has a suicidal young patient named Henry Lethem, played by Gosling. Foster gets personally involved in his patient's life trying to save him and unfolding a variety of mysteries in the process. The film also features Janeane Garofalo and Naomi Watts in supporting roles.
The film's plot is very well crafted and leaves you guessing what is going on right until the last scene. Stay really is perfect for you if you are one of those movie watchers who feels all movies are the same and you try to predict exactly how each film you watch is going to end.
Truly one of the marks of a great film is cinematography and its enhancement of the film's plot and characters. I really loved the cinematography in Stay- as a surprising amount of work, care, and attention to detail went into these visuals. The work on the cinemtography absolutely enhanced the film overall.
Stay was haunting, sad and interesting- in my mind the film might have done better at the box office had it not have been for the variety of Hollywood actors. I think people might have gone into watching the film expecting something very realistic and (quote- unquote) "Hollywood" when, in fact, Stay is very unique, artistic and unpredictable.
